Bandpass filter allows only a narrow wavelength range of light to pass through. The passband of a bandpass filter can range from infrared to ultraviolet as required.
In the visible region, the filter can be used to separate images into different colors in color television cameras; In the infrared region, it is often used in carbon dioxide lasers, missile guidance systems and satellite sensors.
